Hatch Breaker Limpet Controller
Control unit that can program a blank limpet to hack an unshielded target's hold, causing cargo ejection.
— In-Game Description
The Hatch Breaker Limpet Controller is a type of Limpet Controller module that can program limpets to hack open a targeted ship's Cargo Hatch, forcing it to jettison commodities stored in its Cargo Racks.
Usage
Hatch Breaker Limpets travel at 300 m/s and ignore shields. To use, make sure that the module is equipped and bound to a fire group. Select a target, move into range as defined by the module's class and rating, and then launch the Hatch Breaker. If successful, it will attach itself to the targeted ship, hack the Cargo Hatch over a period of time, and then cause commodities to spill out of the ship's hold. This function makes the Hatch Breaker Limpet Controller an invaluable tool for Pirates who are unable to coerce their prey with simple intimidation.
Hatch Breaker Limpets can also be used on Bulk Cruiser Megaship Cargo Bays and Escape Hatches. The latter usages expands the Hatch Breaker Limpet Controller's suitable roles to include Salvage and Search and Rescue.
Defence/Countering
Hatch Breaker Limpets can be countered a number of ways
- Electronic Countermeasure,[1]
- Point Defence Turret - best practise, mounted on utility slot on the under side of a ship next to cargo hatch.
- Destroying a Hatch Breaker Limpet, by targeting it and shootting it down with your ships weapons.
- Outrunning a Hatch Breaker Limpet, by going over 300 m/s.

Notes
- Limpets are stored in the ship's cargo hold, and need to be manually restocked under the Restock/Repair menu at ports.
