You can set off your engines in the module page. Also, you wouldn´t FALL in the space. You simply would retain your velocity and your direction. That´s all. And if somehow we could turn the power plant off, then we should be able to turn it on again, so 0 problems there IMO if FD implements it. But welp, the power plant manages the heat, so no power plant = no heat elimination, and then we would just retain the heat the ship had when the pp went off.
