This is quite possibly the worst ship in the game - it's an expensive, fancier Type 6 that trades almost everything good about a T6 for two extra hardpoints.
It has less module slots, hideously reduced speed, abysmal pitch radius (which is essential to any combat vessel), worse than even a Type 6, pathetic armor (outgunned by any other medium vessel) and is entirely reliant on a fighter that saps 10% of all income when the only thing they do in game is fly a fighter, and requires you to spend hours training them up to make them even remotely effective?
Sure, you can still have fun with it and make it do stuff, but both in game mechanics and in-universe sense, this thing is garbage. I've tried my damndest to make it good. But it's not. It's just garbage. The design philosophy of FDev when making different versions of ships is to nerf blindly and then add some gimmicks to them.
How do you make a support combat vessel with barely a small ship's weapon load out, that can't maneuver to kill smaller ships, that doesn't have the firepower to knock out heavier ships, and literally have less potential for options than even a Type 6?
A type 6 can excel in Exploring or Trading. A Keelback has less modules, so it's gimped in both that, but that also limits its armor capacity, or cargo capacity, and general multirole functionality, all for what, two extra hardpoints and a fighter?
I cannot get over how great the design is when the ship is unashamedly awful. It doesn't excel in anything. There is no niche for it. Just a pure disappointment in execution.
