A few notes that your missing, when regarding the hull mass for sheilds this is refering just to the mass of the hull it self not the whole ship. So 480 is the caculation used for the ship sheilds regardless of its layout so its not that far from OPT. Now the assult ship has one HUGE advangte over both the vulture and the fer. Thats reactor size, both the vulture and fer have power management issues the assult ship does not this means you will have no problems fitting a prisimatic sheild! still even with prisim shields on assault ship the vulture will still have stronger sheilds but fewer(if any) sheild cells.
