Warning! If you use Ship-Launched-Fighters with your NPC Pilot (is there any other reason to get a pilot?), they will take half your experience. See forum thread:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/385740-Do-Elite-NPC-Crew-members-still-take-half-your-combat-experience

They will continue taking experience even after they rank up to Elite, and if their combat rank is higher than yours, they will take MORE than 50%.
