I don't get how many people play Elite who misunderstand it in such a disappointing fashion. ELITE. Is NOT hierarchical!
Not every weapon is supposed to the best weapon, in fact, there is no best weapon. Almost all of the equipment in the game is highly specialized and not useful in every situation. A mine launcher in space sounds like a fine option if you have space to kill, or just adding whatever kind of weaponry to your freighter. But what? You want to be able to fly into the conflict zone and just zip paths, dropping mines which instantly do 100% SHIELD DAMAGE. CAUSE MY WEPS SHOULD ALL DO HUE HUE DAMAGE.
God next some moron is going to start saying how they "upgraded" from DBS to a cobra, or better yet, people who think the ship chassis are hierachical at all and stop flying ships they're good at just because they can afford a more expensive one and assumes that means it'll be clearly better. I can more easily kill them in their poorly outfitted and poorly piloted vulture, than maxed out vipers. So please. Keep upgrading. And keep comparing every niche weapon to any other random weapon.
God, if it doesn't have the damage of a plas accel on a gimble mount, WHY IS IT EVEN IN THE GAME. Just sell the best of each thing for hecks sakes. /s
