Elite Dangerous Wiki:Template guide

This guide explains how to use templates on the Elite Dangerous Wiki. Templates insert reusable content using double braces, such as {{Refimprove}}.

Before adding a template

1. Open its template page and its /doc subpage, if available, to check its parameters and any restrictions.
2. Use a notice only when the article actually has the problem described. If you can fix the problem directly, do that instead.
3. Use preview before publishing. Make sure the result is readable and the links work; remove unused example parameters.
4. Some imported templates and dependencies may still need compatibility checks. An entry in the alphabetical directory does not by itself mean the template has been tested or documented on this wiki. Report a broken example on its talk page.
