Elite Dangerous Wiki:Responsible tagging

Responsible tagging provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.

State a specific problem

Add a maintenance notice only when it identifies a real, actionable issue. Use the narrowest suitable notice and place it beside the affected section or statement. Add a date if the template supports it, and explain non-obvious problems on the talk page.

Improve rather than accumulate notices

Fix straightforward spelling, formatting or citation problems directly when possible. Avoid stacking several notices that describe the same issue. A notice is not a way to win a content dispute, threaten another editor or claim that an imported external rule applies here.

Remove resolved notices

Remove or update a notice when its underlying problem has been addressed. Explain a disputed removal in the edit summary or talk discussion. Use Project:Verifiability for sourcing issues and Project:Dispute for disagreement.
