Elite Dangerous Wiki:Community standards
These community standards adopt Wikipedia's core editorial and conduct principles for this independent Elite Dangerous wiki. They apply to articles, project discussions and other contributions.
Content
- Write from a neutral point of view. Describe significant viewpoints fairly and in proportion to their prominence in reliable sources. Do not use the wiki to advocate for a position.
- Material should be verifiable. Cite reliable, published sources appropriate to the claim, particularly for contentious information. Editors may remove unsupported or poorly sourced claims. Claims about living people require particular care; remove unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material promptly.
- Do not publish original research or present a novel conclusion as established fact. Organise and summarise source material without misrepresenting it.
- Respect copyright and licence conditions. Keep contributor attribution for imported text and follow each file's licence and attribution requirements. Do not upload material that cannot lawfully be shared here.
Working together
Treat other editors with civility and assume good faith where reasonable. Do not harass, threaten or personally attack people. Discuss disagreements on the relevant talk page and seek consensus based on policy and reasons. Consensus is not a simple vote, and it can change with new information. Avoid edit warring; if a dispute persists, stop reverting and ask uninvolved editors or administrators for help.
Editors should be willing to correct mistakes and improve the work of others. Administrators use their tools to protect the wiki and support community decisions, not to gain an advantage in a dispute. They should explain consequential actions, remain accountable, and seek uninvolved review where they have a conflict.
The protection policy and pending changes policy describe the applicable technical safeguards. Exceptions require a clear reason grounded in these principles, not a claim of authority from Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Foundation.
