That might be true, too bad that there is not much graphical data for many of the items in Elite. I remember during the Frontier: Elite 2, that I was drawing schematics for the different lasers in the game.

But even these days, a 30mm rotary/gatling gun like the GAU-8A (A-10) is 6 meters long (almost as long as the famous StuG's of various designs), with the ammunition drum. Total weight is 2 tons with 1350 rounds.

A class 3 multicannon weighs 8 tons, and that must include 2000 rounds of ammunition.
