Targeting the power plant used to be a good way of taking down bigger ships - you could get them to explode while their hull was still above 80% with medium weapons and multicannons.

Come 1.4, and that happens much more rarely it seems. Now they just roll over and become easy targets. Or just less mobile and less likely to shoot back but still massive bullet sponges.
