Ii have to say that I completely disagree with JahHaz.

I've mined with most of the ships in the game. I have recently started mining in an Anaconda, and I find it to be a fantastic mining ship. OK it's slow, but its large number of compartements means that I can fit it to travel to new and distant sytems and still be able to mine efficiently.

IMO, anything smaller than an Asp, and you are just playing. I think the Python is the best mining ship in the game, and it's only its ability to land at outposts that makes it better than the Conda.

But I'm not the "fore-most expert on mining on this wiki", so what would I know.
