Hey!  I love these weapons.  However, you guys got to remember that they are some of if not the slowest weapon in the game.  I have two medium plasma accelerators on my Federal Assault ship and they work great for hammering bigger ships.  They fire slow, they are a slow moving projectile and take more time to reload.  So if you are using these against ships that are faster and more manueverable, you will have trouble.  Even if you aim good the slow movement of the projectile can be avoided if you are too far from the target.  If you make a hit it will do impressive damage.  I use them more for bigger ships.  Its hard to get a hit on smaller ships but oh the joy when you do.
