so fucking stupid.  I kill a pirate who happens to be attacking a civilian freighter.  The freighter thanks me by trying to kill me.  I even retracted hardpoints trying to show the bastard I was on his side, but he kept coming.  So I blew him up, and got a 6,400 credit bounty.  Now my only recourse if I want to continue operating in that system is to buy a Sidewinder and get my ass blown up.  Fucking stupid.  Fdev, PLEASE bring back the ability to pay off one's own bounties!
