Well as of yet, we're only dealing with ships that've been implimented. There's many more announced to soon be on the way in upcoming patches, and many more ships to be added as the game progresses, but with what we've got so far it can be sort of deceptive. A ship like the Corvette just looks more "intimidating" than other ships of comparative size and cost, but like anything else it has it's Pros and Cons. For example, many question whether or not the Federal Gunship is the current "Orca" as of the current build due to the cons and much larger price over the FAS.

The Imperial Cutter still tops the scales as of yet as the largest ship pilotable by players. It beats the Corvette by 200 tons and the Anaconda by a whopping 700 tons in hull mass. The Imperial Eagle is also quiet a formidable ship and one of the fastest ships in the game. There's also a difference in ideology, military strategy, and build quality between the Federation and Empire that needs to be taken into account when comparing their respective faction ships.
