I was bounty hunting in a high intensity resource extraction zone with my Python. Saw a pirate firing at a miner, got closer, opened fire with 2x2D and 1x3D beam lasers, miner turns around, flies straight into my line of fire, explodes.

I get a 30k bounty with 7 day timer, try to cheat the system by doing the Sidewinder trick. Flew back into the station, bought a Sidewinder, went outside, got killed, accidentally chose the free respawn, so I spawn at LHS 3447, 180Ly away from my system.

64 jumps with stock Sidewinder, so I ripped everything out of the Sidewinder, replaced everything with fuel tanks, put in a 2A FSD, now it's 16 jumps. Had one fuel stop about half the way, arrived at my system (LTT 2667), dropped out at Stephenson Hub, where my Python and my Asp are parked. Requested docking, docking request got granted, got scanned right infront of the gate so throttle up, suddenly my docking rights are revoked. I fly back out, authority opens fire, I die, respawn 8 jumps back at the gas stop.

Second attempt, this time I stop in a neighbour system first to have a closer respawn point. Fly back to Stephenson Hub, request docking, docking request granted, I switch into silent running, approach the gate, get scanned anyway, station revokes my docking rights again, the second I fly through the gate.

Third attempt, I respawn, buy a docking computer, head back to Stephenson Hub, request docking, hit the brakes, close my eyes and pray. I'm notified that I'm being scanned and I can hear the authority opening fire, but docking computer > station scanner, apparently, because when I open my eyes, the Sidewinder is docked inside the station.

TL;DR: Station in system with dormant bounty kept my ships hostage. Always double-check what option you chose for respawn. Docking computers rock.
