i have no experience with assault ship, looks like a good solution in between the vulture and FDL or Python though.

The FDL was an awesome ship to fly, very fast and agile (despite its meuverability of 6), very good shields and you can do a lot of damage if outfitted right, but u WILL have power management issues and the jump range is not very good, wich was no problem for me. you can "A-rate" it with about 150 million (which is not really possible due to power issues).

Currenty I'm flying the python and it's simpy a monster, lots of damage, you can A-rate everything, very good shields if you upgrade, insane amount of hull and still enough room for shield cell banks. but a-rating it costs you about a 100 million more than the FDL, that takes pretty long. it's not very fast either, or agile, but with a bit of practice and the use of flight assist, the python turned out to be THE ultimate ship for me.
