I flew both ships in the beta, and I actually found the Dropship to be the better of the two. It's more maneuverable, faster, has more internals (for SCBs), and it's only missing two small hardpoints. The Gunship's main issue is that it simply can't avoid being hit, and it can't run away or turn to fight back. Couple that with its higher purchase/outfitting price and the Dropship is superior in my eyes.
