Its most effective manner of use will be:

Use the 2 huge plasma accelerators to destroy your opponent's power plant as fast as possible. Heat generated by the huge plasma accelerators will allow for 2 volleys at best, then you need to pop a heatsink. 

I strongly recommend putting in the largest possible prismatic shields and shield boosters. Because if you DO run out of heatsinks, these shields will provide the defense power you need to last long enough to get away/cool down for another shot.
