This ship is perfectly design as Multi-Purpose. One of the biggest jump range in all the game, making it the most popular choice for explorer (link with a large fuel scoop, you're not limited by any fuel matter); a good hull/internal/upgrading range making it a good hunting ship, although it good become expensive for it. Good cargo capacity makes it more useful than T6, but really more expensive.  

I think the ASP is the perfect step after the Vulture for combat. But, build as an explorer ship, you can do both quite easily.
