Try setting your speed to 0% immediately upon arrival. Ive been where you have, and i got into a hairy situation with a T9 before. 


Another tip, setting your speed to 0%, but boosting or "temporarily increasing your speed to max" right before you jump will cause you to automatically go to 0% speed again after jumping.
