It's absurd how close you have to be to make these effective.  Admittedly, I'm using two C3 gimballed S-cannons on a vulture with great success, but I've pretty much got to shove my nose up the other guy's tailpipe to make these work; they spread out way too soon.  That, and the ammo count really could tripling.  The RES's just start ramping up when I have to retreat and rearm.
