they are good, and they were pretty much OP 5-6 months back, but right now my biggest problem with cannons are ridiculously low ammunition amount you carry on top of that they now do less damage. I've myself stick with mcannons, but I'd recommend you to try them out, you can pretty much change them back to mcannons if you don't like them.
