Corsair
The Corsair is a medium multirole ship produced by Gutamaya.[1] It's a successor to the Imperial Clipper.[2] Imperial Navy rank is not required.[2] Early access purchase for ARX began on 8 April 2025. It became available for credits on 4 July 2025 for Odyssey owners.[3]
Overview
The Corsair has a size 7 Power Plant, size 7 thrusters, a size 7 Power Distributor, up to 10 optional internals, and 6 hardpoints.[4][5] It's designed to do all three main roles equally.[1] As a multirole ship, it is thus superior to the Python.[2] It can carry up to an impressive 318t of cargo, giving the Corsair the highest cargo capacity of all medium ships apart from the Type-8 Transporter. The Corsair has a maximum boost speed of 600 m/s; while it can reach this speed with 6A Thrusters engineered with Dirty Thrusters and the Drag Drives experimental effect, equipping the Corsair with a 7A counterpart will allow it to consistently reach and maintain its maximum speed, even with most high-mass load outs such as hull tank combat builds.[5]
The ship has blue neon strip lights that highlight the shape of the hull, and minimal heat vents that fit inside the ship.[1] The cockpit is similar to the Imperial Courier with an extra pilot's seat behind the primary seat.[2] Ports on the outer edges of the nacelles allow the thrusters to be observed externally, spinning faster as the ship accelerates.
As a departure from earlier Imperial Gutamaya ships which feature weapon Hardpoints on their nacelles, all of the Corsair's Hardpoints are located on its fuselage, affording much tighter weapon convergence. One Large Hardpoint is located on top of the ship some ways behind the cockpit, with the other two placed on the sides of the ship below the cockpit. Two of the Medium Hardpoints are on the angled slopes either side of the top Large Hardpoint, while the third is on the bottom amidships, in front of the Cargo Hatch.
Two Utility Hardpoints are located on either side of the bottom Medium Hardpoint near the Cargo Hatch. The other two are located one each atop the engine nacelles.

Development
The Corsair was unveiled during a Frontier Unlocked livestream on 26 February 2025.[1] As previous medium SCO native ships covered Combat, Trading and Exploration (in the Python Mk II, Type-8 and Mandalay respectively), the Corsair represents the first new multi-purpose medium ship. It launched for ARX on 8 April 2025.[2] It became available for credits on 4 July 2025.[3]
Trivia
- When the Corsair was first released, it had a mass lock factor of 7, which is unusually low for a ship of its size. This placed its mass locking ability on par with much smaller ships such as the Adder or Imperial Courier. The Corsair was also observed to have abnormally poor heat dissipation for a ship of its size and module compatibility. Both issues were rectified with Trailblazers Update 3, released on 30 Apr 2025.[6]
