Type-11 Prospector
Built upon the successful Type-8 platform, Lakon Spaceways has positioned the Type-11 Prospector to redefine medium-sized mining efficiency. Bespoke modules, lightweight construction materials and a no compromise cargo capacity make the Type-11 the obvious choice for the modern miner. A redesigned and reinforced drive housing grants the Type-11 superior management of overcharged Frame Shift Drives.
— In-Game Description
The Type-11 Prospector is a medium ship produced by Lakon Spaceways, as a purpose-built mining vessel.[1] Early access for ARX began on 29 September 2025.[2] and it released on normal markets for Odyssey players on 22 January 2026.
Overview
The Type-11 Prospector is an industrial mining vessel, wholly utilitarian in design.[1] It shares many similarities and design features with the Type-8 Transporter, and also shares its predecessors' bulky, angular frame, resulting in a rugged, heavy-duty look.
The Type-11 is also the first purchasable ship to have a wholly off-centre cockpit (as opposed to say, the Fer-de-Lance, which only has it slightly elongated to one side).
To the right of the cockpit is the prominent Large hardpoint, designed for a brand new mining tool exclusive to the Type-11: the Mining Volley Repeater.[1][2] Three further hardpoints reserved for mining equipment are located directly below the cockpit. The Type-11 also has four conventional hardpoints: two on top of the ship (a Medium hardpoint directly behind a Small hardpoint), and two more Small hardpoints beneath the ship behind the vehicle bay.
One Utility hardpoint is placed above and slightly behind the cockpit, two more sit atop the central two engine nacelles, and one more is located beneath the ship between the regular Small hardpoints.
The Type-11's engines are mounted on four retractable pylons, similarly to the Type-8. However, on the Type-11, those pylons retract when the landing gear is deployed, and when the Cargo Scoop is open.[2]
The ship's entrance is on the rear, with a gangway that extends from the rear doors to the ground.
Outfitting
- Main article: Outfitting
The Type-11 differs from other ships' conventional outfitting, as it possesses multiple reserved compartments and reserved hardpoints. Those restrictions are as follows:
- Reserved hardpoints: 1x Small, 2x Medium, 1x Large - restricted for mining tools only.
- Reserved compartments: 2x Class 5 - one restricted to a Fighter Hangar, the other a Limpet Controller.
Ships are highly customisable through the Outfitting menu of Station Services. Listed below is the default load-out for the Type-11 Prospector.

Development
The Prospector was first unveiled during a Frontier Unlocked livestream on 30 July 2025.[1] The release date for ARX is in Autumn of 2025.[1]
An in-depth look at the Type-11 was broadcast in a YouTube Livestream on September 4th 2025.[2]
On 22 Sep 2025, the release date was delayed by 1 week to address concerns and improve the experience with the ship:[3]
- A rebalance of the Prospector’s mining stats, including increasing the fragments per second from mining, increased limpet speed and more.
- Minor visual changes to the Prospector, including the removal of a flashing light reflecting in the cockpit while firing the Mining Volley Repeater.
- Audio rebalancing for the audio distribution of the Prospector’s mining laser.
- Tweaks to the Prospector’s flight model
