A user-space draft lets you prepare an article before proposing it for the main article namespace. Drafts remain public wiki pages; do not store passwords, private information or material you lack permission to publish.

Create a draft

Use a title such as User:Your name/Draft title, replacing the example name with your account name. Search for that exact title and create it if permitted. Add the proposed article text and sources. Ask for feedback on the draft's talk page or from a relevant editor.

Keep it separate from articles

Use [[:Category:Ships]] when discussing a category rather than placing the draft into the article category. Avoid templates that place unfinished work in live article maintenance queues unless that is intentional. A draft still follows conduct and copyright rules.

Publish or retain it

When the draft meets local standards, use a page move where permitted so that its history travels with it. Ask an administrator if a conflicting destination or protection prevents the move. Do not copy another editor's text without preserving attribution. Squadron drafts must meet Project:Squadrons before publication as articles.
