Image use policy provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.

Select useful media

Use an image to explain the subject, demonstrate a game feature or support identification. Prefer a clear, relevant image over several near-duplicates. Give files descriptive names and captions. Avoid misleading edits and distinguish concept art, historical versions and current gameplay.

Record provenance

On the file description page, record the actual creator, source and applicable licence or permission information. Screenshots and official artwork can contain rights owned by the game's publisher; uploading them does not make them public domain. Do not infer permission from a filename, an existing tag or another wiki hosting a copy.

Replacements and concerns

Retain a useful description and credit when replacing a file. Check articles that use it, especially before changing dimensions or subject. Raise disputed quality or rights issues through Project:Files for discussion. The site's general footer does not replace an individual file's applicable terms. See Project:Copyrights.
