Type-7 Transporter
Previously known as "Freighter 3", the Lakon Type 7 is a large and moderately armed freighter. It is one of three freighters produced by Lakon Spaceways, the others being the smaller Lakon Type 6 and the larger Lakon Type 9. The Lakon Type 7 is mostly used for trading and performs this role poorly - its cargo capacity is small and jump range is inadequate for its cost when compared to other vessels in it's price range. A well equipped ASP will have significantly superior values in everything. A maxed ASP's cargo is 24T larger than a stock Type-7, it's speeds and combat capabilities are incredible, and it has caused significant angst amongst pilot's who have made the mistake of buying a Type-7.
Due to this ship requiring a Large landing pad, the Lakon Type 7 cannot dock at Outposts. For any traders who plan to dock at an Outpost it is recommended that they opt to fly the Lakon Type 6 instead as it is the biggest freighter that can dock at Outposts, although has a smaller cargo capacity than the ASP Explorer also.
Repair costs on the Type-7 are high which makes trading without shields a poor strategy even if you can avoid combat along the way and insurance costs are in the million credit mark often financially ruining pilots. The Type-7 is considered a 'space whale,' and is easy prey for pirates. They are usually skipped over during progression by savvy pilot's, awaiting Frontier's developers to heed player feedback on vessel load outs and improve it to make it worth using.
Many pilots will still 'try it out,' and usually quit shortly after purchase due to the extreme levels of piracy Type-7's and Type-9's get. Most pilots will never experience constant piracy interdictions until their first Type-7, or the multi-million dollar insurance costs that these attacks will yield.

Outfitting
- Main article: Outfitting
All ships are intended to be highly customizable through the Outfitting menu of Station Services but in reality finding even rudimentary modules within the game has been nearly impossible causing much grief and anger among the player base. Listed below is the default load-out for the Type-7 Transporter.
