Usage
This template operates in two distinct modes: standard relisting and merge notification.
Relisting a discussion
Do not relist a discussion you have commented in, or are otherwise involved in.
Place this template at the bottom of an XfD discussion when relisting it for further input or to allow consensus to develop.
- Without a comment: {{subst:XfD relist}}
- With an optional comment: {{subst:XfD relist|Your comment here — no signature needed}}
- With a comment and relist count: {{subst:XfD relist|Your comment|3}}
The second unnamed parameter (or third, if a comment is used) is the relist count. When it exceeds 2, the discussion is added to Category:AfD debates relisted 3 or more times. Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/CloseAFD.js populates this parameter automatically. Pings do not work inside the optional comment.
All relisted discussions are added to Category:Relisted AfD debates. Guidance on when and how to relist is at Wikipedia:Deletion process § Relisting discussions.
Merge notification mode
This template can be called with |xfd= set to a venue letter to place a notice that a merger has been proposed in a deletion discussion and that the relevant talk pages have been notified. In practice, use the purpose-built venue wrappers rather than calling this template directly with |xfd=, as they handle parameter aliases and are easier to use.
The wrappers are substitution-only templates; call them as {{subst:Merge CfD note|target}}, etc.
The direct merge-mode parameters are:
|xfd=- Venue letter: C (CfD), T (TfD), A (AfD), or M (MfD).
|1=through|20=- The merge target pages, in order.
|date=- The date the merger notification was posted. Defaults to the current date if omitted.
