No, it doesn't turn the planet into a lithium battery and the oceans have nothing to do with our magnetosphere. It's generated by iron in our core and convection currents. Here is a link And we actually have a few theories on how we might generate a magnetosphere for mars. None of them are practical right now but they should work.
