Sorry for the late answer. I thought the type was added to the header, though that seems to be for Template:CharacterInfobox, which uses the new infobox layout and has the icon in the header (e.g. Arissa Lavigny-Duval)

The issue with Template:StationInfobox was that the station type. When there is no image and station type os Orbis, Ocellus, or Coriolis, an image would be added instead of placeholder to showcase the station type. You can see the station type placeholder images linked in Module:StationInfobox
