You can scan ships further away, can detect cold builds and you can still lock on a ship that used heatsink if you are close enough and plus your gimballed weapons can still aim on the ship effectively until they reached 10% heat

That's just me with the class 8 a sensors, you can just scan a ship from 8km away depending on their heat level, obviously closer if it's a cold build
