If you're gonna get a combat ship, get a FDL.  If you're gonna get a trade ship, get a Python.  The Krait is some kind of weird hybrid that tries to do both, but not well enough to justify getting it over the Python.  I got a Krait for smuggling, on to find out that smuggling sucks, and it's better to just boom time trade 180 tons of Palladium/Imperial Slaves, while still holding a class 6 shield.  Krait can't carry that much cargo unless you seriously gimp the shields, which means it's no good for combat anyway, so get a Python and FDL for those.
