The other advantage cannon have over frags: hull breaching. Their effect damage is usually much higher than that listed above. You get a hull breach 60% on every hit, causing "exceptional damage" and tons of module damage. Frags have virtually no hull breach at all, despite their crazy damage from up close.

That's not to say that a fragconda isn't deadlier than a cannaconda, but the latter is a very very specific build and the latter is a lot more general purpose.
