Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Example-bad-username", may not comply with Wikipedia's username policy because your reason here. If you believe that your username does not violate Wikipedia's username policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may request a username change by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply log out of this account and create a new one to use instead. Thank you.

Template documentation follows
Note: the template above may sometimes be partially or fully invisible.
Visit "Template:Uw-username/doc" to edit its documentation if it is available. (How does this work?)

Usage

  • {{subst:Uw-username}}
  • {{subst:Uw-username|Reason}} references a specific reason
  • {{subst:Uw-username|Reason|Additional text}} adds text onto the end of the message instead of "Thank you"
  • {{subst:Uw-username||Additional text}} or {{subst:Uw-username|2=Additional text}} also adds text onto the end of the message instead of "Thank you", but doesn't link a page as specified by the reason.
  • values for param 1 ('reason') can be found at WP:Username policy#Inappropriate usernames.
  • setting named param |realname=yes adds two sentences to the message about the risks involved in using one's real name as username, and links WP:REALNAME. (Param alias: |real name.)

Please remember to substitute the template using {{subst:Uw-username}} rather than {{Uw-username}}.

To customize your message, parameters are available; one to add the article name, and one to add additional text at the end of the message. If your param value contains an equal sign (as urls often do), then be sure to explicitly specify the positional parameter by number; i.e., use |1= or |2= followed by the value; e.g., |1=XYZ=Repainting, or |2=https://www.bbc.com/search?q=Kent+weather.
