I've found that with prismatic shields, once your shields are broken it's time to do a Brave Sir Robin, because they'll take so long to go back up again. Probably never in a normal fight, unless you almost stop firing and manoeuvering for a long time to put all pips to SYS. Realistically, you'll be fragged long before they go back up. Unless you're also an armour tank, just run.
Worse, if you mod your power plant to run one without sacrificing other modules or weapons, the power plant WILL become at very least be 20% more fragile. For big ships the power plant is by far your biggest weakness, meaning it's even more important you run when your shields are popped.
