Help:Section
Headings make sections
In wikitext, headings are made with pairs of equals signs. Use two for a main section and add one pair for each level below it:
== Main section == === Subsection === ==== Sub-subsection ====
Use heading levels in order; do not skip from a level-two heading directly to level four. Do not use heading markup merely to make text larger. The page title is already the top-level heading, so ordinary article sections start at level two.
Editing one section
Where the page provides an edit link beside a heading, it opens that section for editing. This can make a focused change easier and reduce accidental edits elsewhere. Review the preview in context: a section-only preview may not show effects that depend on surrounding page content. Some pages or configurations disable section edit links.
Adding or moving sections
Place a new heading where it fits the page's existing structure, and update the table of contents by using normal headings rather than manually typing one. Before moving or renaming a section, check whether other pages link to its heading anchor. Preserve useful content and explain substantial structural changes in the summary or discussion.
