Help:Minor edit
Meaning of a minor edit
The minor-edit flag tells other editors that a change is small and unlikely to be controversial or materially alter the page's meaning. Typical examples include correcting a typo, fixing spacing, or repairing a clearly broken punctuation mark. The flag may allow readers to filter such edits in change lists.
Do not mark an edit minor if it adds, removes or changes factual content, citations, interpretation, page structure, or a meaningful link. A short edit can still be substantive. Conversely, a longer mechanical correction can sometimes be minor, but use judgment and describe it accurately in the summary.
Choosing the flag
The edit form may show a checkbox or equivalent control. If unsure, leave the edit unmarked. The flag is descriptive; it does not certify that an edit is correct, nor does it replace a useful summary. Some account types or site configurations may restrict who can set it. Do not infer special status or approval from the flag.
