Elite Dangerous Wiki:Template guide/Article structure

Link to a main article

Use Template:Main immediately below a section heading when that subject has a more detailed article. Make sure the destination is relevant and exists.

What to type

{{Main|Ships}}

What it produces:

Main article: Ships

Quote

Use Template:Quote for a relevant quotation, with a source. Put it next to the discussion it supports, and use quotations sparingly.

What to type

{{Quote|The quoted words.|The source}}

What it produces:

The quoted words.

— The source

Citations and reference list

Place a citation after the statement it supports using <ref>Source details</ref>. Then put Template:Reflist under a References heading near the end of the article. Do not add a second references list if one already exists.

What to type

A supported statement.<ref>Author, title and source details.</ref>

== References ==
{{Reflist}}

The citation appears as a numbered link and the source appears in the references list. Preview the page to check that it points to the intended source.

Use an existing navbox, such as Template:ShipNavbox, near the bottom of an article when the article belongs to the group it describes. Do not add an unrelated navbox merely to increase links.

What to type

{{ShipNavbox}}

What it produces: a collapsible navigation box linking related ship pages. See Template:ShipNavbox for its current appearance.
