Merging provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.
Decide what belongs together
Consider merging pages when they substantially duplicate the same topic or one cannot usefully stand alone. Explain the proposed destination on the affected talk pages and identify useful material from each page. Distinct game subjects should not be merged merely because they are short.
Preserve content and provenance
Combine the relevant material, reconcile contradictions with sources, and remove genuine duplication. In the edit summary, identify the source page and revision or history for copied text. Keep the original history and a useful redirect where possible. Update links and templates affected by the merge.
Finish the work
Explain the outcome on the talk page and remove resolved notices. A merge notice is a proposal, not a command or an automatic approval. See Project:Consensus and Project:Copyrights.
