Elite Dangerous Wiki:Consensus
Consensus provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.
Reach agreement through reasons
Discuss a disputed change on the relevant talk page. Explain the problem, cite evidence and propose specific wording or a practical alternative. Consider all relevant contributions on their merits, including those from new editors. Agreement should follow the evidence and local standards. A headcount alone does not explain why a proposal meets policy. The specific participation and timing safeguards in Project:User Conduct Rules remain applicable; this guidance does not replace them with Wikipedia's rules.
Changing an established approach
Describe what would change and why. Allow affected editors a reasonable opportunity to respond before treating a major restructuring as settled. Silence is not permanent approval. When proposing to reopen a recent or strongly supported decision, address the safeguards in Project:User Conduct Rules and explain the new evidence or problem. Do not use a routine edit to bypass that discussion. Summarise the outcome so later editors can understand it.
Unresolved disputes
Avoid repeated reversions. Ask uninvolved editors or a local administrator for help when discussion stalls. This wiki does not acquire another site's arbitration bodies or sanctions by importing its templates. See Project:Dispute.
