Outfitting is a service available at certain stations that allows players to customize their ship's weapons, equipment, and cosmetics.

Weapon Hardpoint

There are currently four types of hardpoints: Small, Medium, Large, Huge. Each size of hardpoint denotes the maximum class of weapon that can be fitted to that hardpoint.

Small hardpoints allow weapons of Class 1 to be equipped.
Medium hardpoints allow weapons of Class 2 or 1 to be equipped.
Large hardpoints allow weapons of Class 3, 2 or 1 to be equipped.
Huge hardpoints allow weapons of Class 4, 3, 2 or 1 to be equipped.

For more information on what types of weapons are available and their stats please visit the Weapons page.

Utility Mount

The amount of Utility mounts varies per ship and only certain modules (listed below) can be placed in a ship's Utility Mounts.

Internal Compartment

Essential Equipment

These modules are required on every ship and while they can be upgraded, they cannot be removed. No other module types can be fitted into these specific slots.

Module Name - Specific Slot

Bulkheads

Main article: Bulkheads

The equivalent of armour, Bulkheads encase a ship's hull and protect it from damage. Bulkheads can be upgraded and specialized to provide higher resists against all or specific damage at the cost of increased weight and an initial Credit investment.

Cosmetics

Cosmetics can be changed in the "Livery" section. Currently there are a variety of purchasable paint shcemes for ships from the [store.elitedangerous.com official store]. The only decal that is currently available is a skull that was given to all players who received the "Mercenary" edition of Elite Dangerous.
