Template:Non-free video game screenshot
Appearance
This image is a screenshot or other image taken from a video game, and its copyright is most likely held by the game's publisher or developer. It is believed that the use of low-resolution screenshots
- to visually identify the game (or other game-related article subject; for example, a character) in question
- on this independent wiki, subject to its image-use policy and applicable law,
constitutes fair use under the Copyright law of the United States. Any other uses of this image may be copyright infringement. For more information, see Non-free content.
To the uploader:
- Please add a detailed non-free use rationale for each article the image is used in, which must also declare compliance with the other parts of the non-free content criteria, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.
- For example non-free use rationales, see Use rationale examples.
- This tag should only be used for video game screenshots.
- Either of the following may be helpful for stating the rationale: Template:Game rationale or Template:Non-free use rationale video game screenshot.
- Additionally, please specify at least one platform in the first parameter. See usage below.

Usage
This template accepts the platform(s) as parameters to better categorize the tagged image.
{{Non-free video game screenshot|Windows|Macintosh|Linux}}
or
{{Non-free video game screenshot|Windows}}
or just
{{Non-free video game screenshot}}
if the platform is unknown. (For the platform names you can use, see the subcategories of Category:Screenshots of video games.)
If arcade is used as a parameter, it must be in the first position, e.g.
{{Non-free video game screenshot|arcade|Dreamcast}}
Maintenance
If categories are merged or renamed, add a switch line into the sub-page Template:Non-free video game screenshot/platform, e.g.
