Sadly a waste of time, it may improve once horizons hits, it may then have a purpose, but right now the dire positioning of the weapons makes it largely useless. There are much better alternatives for combat and trading; one to avoid
No engineer in his right mind would design a ship like this, the game designers must have used a dart board at 100m to decide where to place the weapons. An absolute sham, and no surprise it has the word Federation in its name, the game designers are clearly in love with all things Empire.
