Help:Footnotes
Use footnotes to show which source supports a statement. Follow Project:Citing sources and Project:Reliable sources when choosing evidence.
Add a reference
Place a reference after the statement it supports. Include a source title, author or publisher, date, working URL and a page or video timestamp where useful. For a gameplay test, record the game version and method.
Statement about a game feature.<ref>Publisher, source title, publication date, URL and relevant passage.</ref> == References == <references />
The code above is an example; replace the source details before saving. The reference list displays notes defined on the page. Preview to check that the numbers and list appear correctly.
Reuse a source
Define a named reference once, then reuse it:
First statement.<ref name="patch">Full source details.</ref> Another statement.<ref name="patch" />
Names must match. Do not give different source texts the same name. If an error says that a reference has no text, find the missing definition or give it a distinct name. See Help:CS1 errors for citation-template errors.
Citations and credits
A reference supports the article's claims. It does not grant permission to copy a source. Keep imported credits and applicable licence information under Project:Copyrights.
