Colonia Tenth Anniversary Celebrations Get Underway

File:Celebration.png

The festival marking the tenth anniversary of the founding of Colonia has begun in earnest.

Colonists throughout the Colonia enclave are welcoming visitors with open arms, showcasing their achievements over the last decade in partnership with major corporations keen to invest.

Meanwhile, major starports are hosting events and parties to attract tourists and promote the region as a place for families to relocate and build a new life outside the core systems.

“If it weren’t for the help of these kind souls, I doubt our anniversary celebrations would be as big as they are going to be,” stated Jaques in a livestreamed interview. “And my bar stands ready to welcome anyone who has worked up a thirst!”

Magen Wolf, speaking on behalf of the Colonia Council, added “The number of commodities received has provided a boost to the markets across the region.”

Local tourism chiefs have confirmed to Vox Galactica that new tourist beacons will be placed around the region, marking significant events that have occurred during Colonia’s first decade.

“We look forward to more tourism and trade! It was felt that we needed to tell our story to all who come here. And maybe some will stay to experience our next ten years,” a tourism spokesperson at Bisley Landing in Benzaiten commented.

As anniversary celebrations begin to wind down, Colonia Council issued confirmation that a new megamarket has been established at Jaques Station.

Magen Wolf, speaking on behalf of the Colonia Council, said "All of our local initiatives were successful, and we intend to recognise the considerable efforts of pilots who travelled all the way to Colonia to help make our 10-year anniversary a triumph."

Jaques, speaking to Vox Galactica via holo-vid, added:

"It took me some time to pull in some old favours and negotiate with several corporations, but I have finally established Jaques Station as a megamarket!"

“This old starport is now proud to offer a full suite of outfitting and service options available. This is a huge boost for Colonia and the region! Every year, our small corner of the galaxy becomes a greater place to visit and stay!"

Wolf also stated that new tourist beacons would be placed around systems of significance to mark the efforts made by everyone who took part, where visitors “can learn more about the history of Colonia by touring our systems populated by happy colonists.”

The six beacons can be found in Colonia, Carcosa, Einheriar, Tir, Luchtaine and Blua Eaec WW-E c14-1293. Template:GalNetLinks

Research Sheds New Light on Industrial Mining

File:News Image settlements 10.png

A widespread review of current surface mining techniques has been sparked by recently published research.

Wreaken Mining’s Chief Geologist, Dr. Ben Curtis, has written an essay suggesting that existing refinery methods inadvertently destroy valuable mineral resources due to their large-scale inefficiencies.

“Typically, laser mining and refinery processes are extremely unrefined,” commented Dr. Curtis in a press interview.

“As a result of my extensive research, I discovered that by introducing a modulating wave form and beam focus into a tighter laser housing, it allowed us to mine planetary surfaces and yield previously unobtainable resources.”

Studying an advance copy of the research given to Vox Galactica, freelance journalist Adalyn Cross noted that Wreaken Mining were currently manufacturing new deployable laser drills and refinery modules with the proposed technologies to facilitate the extraction of various materials from most types of planetary bodies.

“The research also suggests that by modifying the available Detailed Surface Scanner, new planetary mining locations can be detected from orbit. My contacts from conglomerates and independent miners have suggested that this could be the start of a new surface mining boom.”
