Citing sources provides local editorial guidance for the independent Elite Dangerous Wiki. Apply it alongside community standards and existing local policies.
Add a useful citation
Place a reference immediately after the statement it supports, using <ref>Source details</ref>. Include the title, publisher or author, publication date where available, a specific page or timestamp, and a working URL when relevant. Give the reader enough information to understand the source without opening an unexplained link.
Reference lists
Use <references /> or an appropriate local reference-list template. Reuse named references rather than repeating the same citation text. Preview for missing reference names and error messages. For game observations, record version, date and method.
Reuse and attribution
A citation supports a claim; it does not grant permission to copy text or media. Preserve imported contributor histories and each file's applicable credit and licence. The wiki-wide footer supplies the site's general attribution notice. See Project:Copyrights and Project:Reliable sources.
