Appearance
Betelgeuse is an uninhabited system in the Inner Orion Spur. It features a large, red supergiant star, which is the ninth-brightest star in the night sky as seen from Earth, almost 500 ly away. It is located in the constellation Orion and the second-brightest star there, and has a solar radius of about 640.373000.[1]
Betelgeuse is in its late stage stellar evolution and expected to go supernova in the next million years.[2]
