There are a number of book projects planned to be produced alongside the Elite:Dangerous game.

Elite:Reclamation - A novel to be written by Drew Wagar. This was the first successfully funded Kickstarter book project, achieving its initial goal on the 21st of November 2012. The book is expected to be approximately 70k words long (200+ pages) and due to delivery just prior to March 2014. It has a website at www.elitereclamation.co.uk

Jameson/Jones: Supermassive - A novel to be written and illustrated by André Czausov. The book is planned to be around 90k words in length, and a suite of original illustrations will be incorporated into the PDF edition, together with some crowdfund-only extras such as Void. The ebook is due to be released in late February 2014. A website for the book is currently being developed.

Tales from the Frontier - An anthology of 15 novellas and short stories from beginning and more experienced writers and Elite fans. The writers will work together to bring you the best possible stories at the launch of Elite: Dangerous around March 2014 (or a bit earlier if you pledged for early access in the Kickstarter).
