Elite Dangerous Wiki:Protection policy

Page protection restricts actions such as editing, moving or uploading when needed to prevent disruption or protect important site content. The padlock at the top of a page shows its current protection. Select it to return to this page.

• A gold lock indicates full editing protection. Only users with the appropriate administrative permission can edit the page.
• A silver lock indicates semi-protection, which restricts editing by newer or unregistered users.
• A blue lock indicates move protection. Other colours can indicate other restrictions when those levels are configured.

Protection is a technical safeguard, not an endorsement of a particular version. It should be used for a proportionate period and removed when it is no longer needed. Protection settings and their expiry can be seen in the page's protection log. Proposed changes to a protected page can be discussed on its talk page.
